Match report from O’Connell’s GFC 1-07 v Naomh Fionnbarra 3-13
O’Connell’s GFC fell to defeat on the road to a very strong Naomh Fionnbarra team on a 1-07 to 3-13 score line. Having started their league campaign with a victory, O’Connell’s were unable to keep their run of victories going against their neighbours. O’Connell’s started strong with Cian Geeney finding the net after only two minutes to give the visitors an early lead. This goal was cancelled out when Naomh Fionnbarra found the back of the O’Connell’s net, with the visitors never really finding their footing after that. A pair of two pointers from Robert Quigley and Niall Conlon were the visitors only other scores of the first half, with the home side taking a 1-4 to 1-5 lead into the break. Despite the game still being close at the half, Naomh Fionnbarra came into the second half with a new mentality, scoring two early goals to put the game to bed. A two pointer from Robert Quigley and a solitary point from Niall Conlon was all O’Connell’s could manage in the second period, eventually falling to a 1-07 to 3-13 defeat. O’Connell’s GFC will return to action on Tuesday night when they take on Annaghminnon Rovers in Division 6 North
