Underage Roundup
O’Connell’s GFC had only one underage team in action during the week, with the U14 team travelling to Dundalk to take on Dundalk Young Irelanders. In a high scoring affair, the visitors were unable to come away with the victory, falling to a 6-08 to 4-10 defeat. There is only one underage game scheduled next week, with the U14 team in action again, this time against St. Kevins / Lann Leire combination. The very best of luck to all involved.
O’Connell’s GFC Division 6 Team
The O’Connell’s GFC Division 6 team returns to action this week when they take on Glyde Rangers on Tuesday, May 6th in the Grove. All support welcome for the game, the best of luck to all involved.
Huge week for Louth GAA
Not content with just making the Leinster Final for the third straight year, Louth GAA had a massive week last week with two underage teams in action and a major county announcement. On Wednesday April 30th, Louth U20 defeated Meath U20 to win the U20 Leinster Football Championship in Newbridge. A huge congratulations to everyone involved in the team, especially our own Justin Cooney who is a member of the extended panel. Not to be left out, the Louth U18 team progressed to the semi-final of the U18 Leinster Championship when they defeated Westmeath on Thursday, May 1st in Hunterstown. Finally, over the past week Louth GAA announced that they were given the green light to progress with the construction of the new county grounds, signalling a bright future ahead for the county.
