Match Report for O’Connell’s GFC 1-11 v Westerns GFC 0-12

O’Connell’s GFC made it two wins on the bounce with a hard fought two-point victory over Westerns GFC in Darver. For the second game in a row, goals proved to be the deciding factor as O’Connell’s were again able to find the back of the net to power them to victory. The game started off with both teams trading early scores, with O’Connell’s managing to gain the upper hand to take a 0-07 to 0-04 lead into the break. The game continued to follow this pattern into the second half with both teams continuing to trade scores throughout. The decisive moment came late in the second half, when the ball fell to O’Connell’s talisman Robert Quigley who fired the ball into the back of the Westerns GFC net to secure a 1-11 to 0-12 victory for the team and leave qualification for the knockout stages in our own hands. O’Connell’s GFC will return to action, and to Darver, on Saturday night when they take on Sean McDermotts GFC at 7pm
