Match Report for St. Nicholas 1-12 v O’Connell’s GFC 3-10
O’Connell’s GFC returned to winning ways on Friday night after defeating St. Nicholas GFC in Drogheda on a score line of 2-10 to 1-12. A closely fought affair from the start, O’Connell’s managed to start the better when Niall Conlon found the back of the net early, to leave the score as 1-01 to 0-04 after the opening quater. The two teams would be hard to separate for the entirety of the first half, leaving the scores tied at the break 1-04 to 0-07. The teams traded scores to start the second half before Robert Quigley found the back of the home sides net for O’Connell’s second goal of the game. Despite St. Nicholas grabbing a goal of their own, O’Connell’s we’re able to maintain their control on the game, along with avoiding another late disaster after last week, when Dalton O’Brien found Dean Stanfield, who hit the back of the net, to ensure that the visitors left Drogheda victorious on a score line of 3-10 to 1-12.
