O’Connell’s GFC were delighted to award their annual Player of the Year awards at our recent members thank you day.
There were three awards on offer; Senior Player of the Year, Young Player of the Year & Division 6 Player of the Year
The winner of the Senior Player of the Year award was Stuart Osbourne. Stuart had a fantastic 2024 season which seen him start at no.6 for a majority of games. Stuart used his wealth of experience to help lead the team through a number of close games while also elevating the quality of play all around the squad.
Young Player of the Year went to Justin Cooney, a new addition onto this years senior panel who made his impact felt throughout the year. Despite being new to adult football, Justin looked more than comfortable on the field with some top quality performances throughout the year.
The final award was Division 6 Player of the Year which was presented to Evan Kearney. Evan put in a number of great performances for the Division 6 team during a league campaign which saw the team finish just outside the promotion play-offs and was a very deserving winner of the award. Congratulations to all the players who won individual awards on the night.
Also presented on the night were the medals from this seasons Kevin Mullen Shield victory. All players present on the night were presented with their medal, which was won following the teams penalty shootout victory over neighbours Naomh Fionnbarra back in July.
