Allianz National League R7
Congratulations to Louth GAA who secured their Division 2 status with a fantastic 1-19 to 0-17 victory over Meath in Iniskeen on Sunday, which also seen the Royals miss out on promotion to Division 1. Louth, who were without All-Star Craig Lennon and talisman Sam Mulroy, started the game perfectly when Kieran McCardle found the back of the net early on. Louth raced into a 1-13 to 0-5 point lead at half-time, and with Down leading Monaghan the team knew they had to hold onto that lead. Despite a Meath flurry in the second-half, Louth’s six second half points were enough to ensure they would stay in Division 2 for another year. Louth’s next outing will be in the Leinster Championship against the winners of the clash between Wexford and Laois on the 12/13th of April, with the date to be finalized once the opponent is confirmed
