O’Connell’s GFC welcomed the Division 3 league leading John Mitchels to the Grove on Sunday, May 25th looking to keep the momentum going after last week’s big victory over Annaghminnon Rovers. Unfortunately, it was not to be, with the visitors coming away with a 1-09 to 3-12 victory after a hard-fought contest. Division 6 North Round 6

O’Connell’s GFC welcomed the league leaders of Division 6 North, Dundalk Young Irelanders, to the Grove on Tuesday, May 20th for round six of the Division 6 North competition. A high scoring affair, O’Connell’s were never able to fully get into the game, with the Dundalk side showing why they are top of the table, running out 6-18 to 1-12 winners. Louth U20 Team through to All-Ireland Final

Congratulations to first-team player Justin Cooney and the rest of the Louth U20 team who defeated Mayo on Friday, May 16th to progress to the All- Ireland final v Tyrone. This is the first time that a Louth team has made the Al-Ireland final at this age grade and is a massive achievement for the county. The game against Tyrone will take place on Wednesday, May 28th in the Gaelic Grounds in Armagh. The best of luck to all.

U14 Team through to League Final

The St Michaels U14 squad had a successful Division 3 league campaign, winning 5 of their 7 matches. They finished in 2nd place and defeated Ardee St. Marys in the semifinal on Wednesday, May 21st. In addition to the league matches, the team has also played 3 friendly matches, and every available player in the squad has played during the league and also in the friendlies.  O’Connells have 10 players in the squad and the club is represented on the coaching team by Tom Cooney and Martin Kearney. Everyone at O’Connell’s GFC would like to wish the team the best of luck for the final, in which the team takes on Roche Emmets on Monday, June 2nd.
