Louth travelled to Breffni Park on Sunday, 16th February to take on Cavan, where two late goals proved the difference as the Wee County were defeated 3-15 to 0-18. The game was even throughout, but goals in the 69th and 71st minute proved decisive as Cavan register their first win of the campaign and move level with Louth on two points in Division 2. Louth will welcome Down to Drogheda on Sunday, February 23rd with a 2.30pm throw in.
Local College Football
Congratulations to DKIT who recently won the Trench Cup for only the third time in the college’s history. The team, which contains Coaching Officer Wayne Kierans on the management team, travelled to the Connacht GAA Centre of Excellence to take on a Trinity College side that they had previously defeated in the group stage. The game was close throughout, with DKIT eventually winning 0-16 to 0-13. The win will see DKIT promoted to Sigerson Cup level for the first time in the college’s history. Congratulations to all involved.

The King of Donegal
The prodigal son of Donegal, behind only Daniel O’Donnell, Michael Murphy returned to the Donegal panel on Saturday to much fanfare in their 0-21 to 1-10 victory over reigning All-Ireland champions Armagh. The whole stadium was delighted to see Murphy playing for the county team for the first time since 2022, except for Armagh captain Aidan Forker who was sent off for headbutting Murphy mere seconds after the Donegal legend had entered the pitch.
