Healthy Clubs Walk & Talk
Our Walk & Talk initiative ran by the O’Connell’s GFC Healthy Club Committee returned on Saturday, 11th January for 2025. The Walk & Talk will take place ever Saturday morning, leaving the clubrooms at 10.30am. All the community welcome to attend. The sign for the 3k and 5k routes starting at the Grove has also been moved to outside the gate for anyone who wishes to scan the code and gain access to the routes
JivinGym comes to the Grove
Irish jiving group JivinGym have been bringing their classes to the Grove over the last two weeks, with two more weeks of classes left. There is still time to come down and start learning to Jive in a fun, open environment. Registration available at the door for classes.
Louth get 2025 Campaign underway
Louth got their 2025 senior campaign underway on Saturday, 11th January with a 2-14 to 0-14 defeat at the hands of Fermanagh in Haggardstown. Louth, who had an experimental team on display with eight players making their first appearance for the Wee County. The first game for Louth under the new rules, the game was an overall tight contest with goals making the key difference come the end of the game. The game was the first edition of the Jimmy McGeough Cup, which is in honour of the former Geraldines chairman of the same name. Louth will return to action on Sunday, 26th January with the opening round of the Allianz National League
O’Connell’s GFC Coaches Meeting
There will be a meeting on Thursday, 30th January in the clubrooms for anyone who wishes to get involved with an underage team next year. The meeting is open to all club members, and we encourage any members with interest in helping out to attend. The meeting will take place at 7.30pm
New Rules Seminar
Louth GAA are hosting an in-person seminar regarding the new rules in Darver on Wednesday, 22nd January from 7-9pm. The seminar will be hosted by Colm Nally. Colm is a member of the Football Rule Committee who implemented the new rules, along with being a former Louth player and having years of inter-county management experience. Anyone interested in attending should contact Mandy Furey at 087 962 7510.
