A cold night, as it often is in Darver, the game was close throughout with both teams trading scores throughout the whole game. The game started poorly for O’Connell’s, with Sean McDermott’s taking an early four point lead. O’Connell’s were able to answer back through the boots of Robert Quigley and Evan Kearney, but a sucker punch came in the 16th minute when Sean McDermotts got their first goal of the evening. O’Connell’s were able to answer back through a Robert Quigley goal, but right before the end of the first half, Sean McDermotts managed to find the back of the net again to leave the score at 1-5 to 2-7. Both teams traded scores to start the second half, with neither team being able to reel off a run of scores, and this ultimately cost O’Connell’s as they were unable to turn over the deficit from the first half. A Cian Doyle penalty late on did nothing more than make the finish closer as Sean McDermotts held firm for a 2-12 to 2-15 victory.
