The draw for the 2025 DKIT Sport Junior Football Championship was made on Wednesday, March 19th in Aiken Army Barracks
The draw for the group stage divided the 14 teams into four groups, two groups of three and two groups of four.
The full draw is as follows:
Group A – John Mitchels, Dowdalshill & Sean McDermotts
Group B – Annaghminnon Rovers, O’Connell’s GFC & Oliver Plunketts
Group C – Cuchulainn Gaels, Na Pairsaigh, Lann Léire & Naomh Fionnbarra
Group D – Glyde Rangers, Naomh Malachi, St. Nicholas & Westerns GFC
When asked about the draw, First-Team manager Stuart Reynolds had this to say:
“Yeah it’s a tough draw but there are no easy games in championship football, that’s why you play GAA for championship football so we can’t wait to get started. Annaghminnon Rovers will be a tough test, we played them last year in the group stage and they were very good that day, they have had some additions come in since then so they will be a great test to start our campaign with”.
“The Oliver Plunketts will probably be one of the favourites to win the championship again this year, we know from last year that they are a really solid team, they were by far the best team in junior league last year and playing up a level in the league this season will no doubt benefit their championship hopes. We couldn’t get the better of them last year so we know we are in for a fight to try and get a result but we look forward to the challenge.”
“Championship games are always tough, and you will always need a little bit of luck to go far, but we will set our expectations in our own camp and hope that we can deliver big on the day to give us the best chance possible. But for now, our only focus is the first game against Annaghminnon and trying to get out of the group, nothing beyond that matters at this point”
